UGA Koi Class 2010

Origins of the Course

Quite some years ago the University of Georgia hosted a course called Fish Health Management with Dr. John Gratzek. The course was attended annually by pet shop owners, hobbyists and other interested academics and featured well known and credentialed speakers like Julian Sprung, and others.

Eventually that course was discontinued as Dr. Gratzek lacked energy for school and more for retirment. :)

Later, in 2001 Dr Johnson decided that the course was needed, and went to UGA to speak with those in charge of fish health there, namely Vicki Vaughan. And the idea was proposed that Vicki would set up the class and Dr Johnson would help by being there. It was easy. For Dr Johnson.

And so since then the course has been held every year and is variably attended by pet shop owners, hobbyists and other interested academics - and taught by many different speakers.

We look forward to seeing you at the seminar in March 2010!
